The Church of God by Faith –Tampa, was founded in June, 1945. The church began holding services in the home of Elder Roy and Mother Jeanette Campbell. As the Lord blessed, the church was able to purchase two lots on Genessee Street – the site of our first location. The church erected a tent on the site and in June of 1945, began to holding weekly tent services on Tuesday and Thursday nights
Years following the pastoralship of Elder Campbell, the General Council of the Churches of God by Faith, considered closing the church due to the lack of growth. Luke 13:7-9 of the NLT says: “Finally, he said to his gardener, ‘I’ve waited three years, and there hasn’t been a single fig! Cut it down. It’s just taking up space in the garden.’ “The gardener answered, ‘Sir, give it one more chance. Leave it another year, and I’ll give it special attention and plenty of fertilizer. If we get figs next year, fine. If not, then you can cut it down.’” In December of 1971, Elder Albert Landers was appointed pastor. During his tenure, he named the church Little Rock because of the soundness of the doctrine that the church stood on. Under his leadership, which continued until 2007, the church prospered both spiritually and financially. The church again was blessed, and in 1995 was able to purchase 5.6 acres of land on Henry Avenue – the site of our present location.
In December of 2007 Elder James E. Williams was appointed pastor of the church. Through his leadership, the work continued and the new edifice, presently known as The Rock Church of God by Faith, was dedicated on January 19, 2013.
